Time for my "Teen Angst" posting. I just returned from class (second language) This week I asked to transfer to a slower paced class as I felt I was falling further and further behind in the advanced class. Yesterday I started the new class. The pace is slower, and the assignments seem to make more sense to me.
Today however, the first 45 minutes of class was going over the setup of the course, followed by 15 minutes of what I assume was review for the class (new material for me). The instructor then disappeared from the class (she did use the door and left in the normal fashion). I carried on with my papers trying to get caught up, 30 minutes later no sign of the teacher, so I take a 5 minute bathroom break, and back to working.
Soon the class is in chaos, we have people speaking (loudly) in about 5 different languages, none of which is the language we are suppose to be studying, The is an idjit yacking on his cell phone in a voice that could have been heard in the far corner of the classroom, and another idjit leaning on my desk talking in (Spanish?) to the guy across from me. While I did try to focus on getting my assignments done I was loosing the battle to focus on what was suppose to be done (i.e. learning the second language). After an hour, the instructor still hadn't returned, and one moron started playing the piano (I have no Idea why there is a piano in the classroom) and two others had turned on the computers and were reading each other's blogs. At that point I packed up my books, grabbed my coat and left. I completed my work at home where it is quiet. This is a classroom of (supposed) adults, they were acting like a class of Grade 6 kids. I'm puzzled, if they don't want to learn, why the heck did they bother to get out of bed and come to school in the morning?
I have been putting off creating a Blog for nearly a year. For the most part I am of the opinion that Blogs, like personal web pages, are just a stroke of the ego, A place for teens to post their favourite song lyrics or to rant and rave about how unfair the establishment is, or for reclusive adults to go on about conspiracies, or how their religious or political views are the only right ones.
Well I have changed my opinion of Blogs. After looking over some friends postings, I find that there is a place on the web for more than just ranting. My pledge to you and future readers is to avoid slamming religion, politics or organisations that I may disagree with. Instead I hope to post an eclectic mix of topics ranging from interesting places to holiday, to photography techniques, and of course pictures of my cats. Until I find my `groove' in posting things will be some what random and a whole lot chaotic - sort of like life - bare with me, and hopefully my readers will come away feeling entertained, informed, or challenged.
Most of my posts will be open to comments so I'd love to hear your praise or constructive criticism
My profile is here since the profile editing window really sucks when it comes to formatting, ie. Formatting is non-existant in the profile window. Feel free to tell me if I am being too anal about this, but why can't the `about me' part of the blog be formatted in the same why as a regular posting? Is this an example of a lazy programmer or is there just a major lack in the help files here?
Well, without further ado, here is my profile.
